The Paladins of Darkness (PoD) were a chaotic neutral guild founded by Lorion, Cobi and possibly others on April 13th, 1998 with the idea that players should protect their own individual interests and remain loyal to the guild. This guild appeared dark on the surface and they did engage in a bit of chaos but were mainly a darker roleplay guild. If I recall correctly, the guild was comprised entirely of paladins and their views clashed with the guard style guilds and good guilds of Tibia. PoD was very disinclined to obey any law proposed by players and liked to roleplay their own battles to disrupt the order pushed by guard guilds, acting as a natural foil.
To join POD you had to write a guild application including a roleplay story which included your name, what happened to you in your past and how you became dark, where you were from, who were your parents and family, and choice of living (not real life, only your backstory). You also had to state why you wanted to join the guild and any prior experience you had before.
Their codex was 5 points which were as follows:
"§1 Absolute loyality to the guild.
§2 No Paladin of Darkness may injure a guildmember intentional.
§3 Mutual assistance should be seen as a matter of course.
§4 Irreprochable players may not been attacked without a valid reason.
§5 Murder should only be choosen as last possibility.”
It was said that they were a guild "who neither say yes or no, light or darkness". The guild faded but was again revived on April 9th, 2001 and faded sometime after the end of September of that year. During this resurgence the codex was revised to be 8 points which were the below:
§1 Once a PoD, always a PoD.
§2 You have to do what your leaders command you to.
§3 The guild wont defend you for every of your personal actions.
§4 Its not allowed to discriminate other players.
§5 You have to help members in need.
§6 Murdering a player without a reason is forbidden.
§7 Hunting PKs (Player Killers) is allowed but not needed.
§8 Enemies of the Paladins of Darkness shall be hunted untill they die."
