Ivory Tower (IT) was a guild which existed in Beta 5 with the earliest mention July 16, 1999. This guild was considered neutral, and those who wishes to join had to be a minimum of level 10 or have a current member sponsor them. The guild was designed for mages to give them a place to grow by providing them with a section of the guild comprised of knights and paladins called the Tower Army.
The guilds leader was called the Commander of the Tower Army, who seemed to be the most decorated member. They were followed by the 2nd in Command, who likely led the two other subgroups. Mages were led by the Greater Mage, while the more melee ranks were led by the Lord. Normal members look to be split between these two divisions with further division for their vocation.
On July 27th, 1999 IT attacked the DoL and the Night Hawks. Many of DoL's member died and they fought against the guild for a couple of days with the hostilities ending in peace on July 30th, 1999. This I believe is the first formal war I have seen recorded between two guilds. It is unknown what reason IT attacked DoL.
Despite initiating violence, they apparently build a parcel castle at one time while they pined for a guild hall. They called it the called the Castle of Light though nothing further of it is chronicled.
IT had an interesting reward system which I will detail below:
"Note of Good Deed: This certificate is awarded to those who have performed meritable actions deemed worthy of recognition by the Ivory Tower.
Letter of Poor Merit: This letter is given to members who have displayed poor judgement, and have performed any action contrary to the Codex of the Ivory Tower. Three of these letters results in expulsion from the Ivory Tower.
Officer Papers: This promotion is given to members who have achieved level 25 or above. These officers are always treated with the utmost respect, and are properly greeted whenever seen by a lower member of the Ivory Tower.
Medal of Graditude: This medal is awarded to those members who perform great deeds and reflect every word of the Codex of the Ivory Tower. This award is also obtainable by friends of the guild, and by other allied guilds.
Golden Cross: This medal is the highest given by the Ivory Tower. It is awarded only to those members who exemplify the highest honor and whose actions reflect great credit upon them."
