The Brotherhood of Balance

The Brotherhood of Balance was founded sometime around August 1999. They had an interesting concept compared to the other guilds which focused on one type of alignment, instead preferring to unite all alignments as a cohesive body. Their mission statement was the below:

"Many guilds in Tibia take the position that there is a divide between good and evil.

Unlike others, however, the Brotherhood of Balance believes it is imperative to unite both sides instead of letting them fight each other!

Therefore, the guild is divided into three.

Each branch has its own rules and laws."

BoB was structured around The Council of Unity which formed the leadership of the guild. The guild leaders would meet once a month, "each time the moon is in full orbit", to make decisions for the guild. They would also elect a Council leader once per year.

The remaining members of the guild were structured around choosing a particular alignment such as good, evil, and neutral which had set tasks and responsibilities. They believed that by combining these various alignments that they could create a better guild. Their rank breakdowns are as follows:

The Bearers of Light rank was considered good alignment and your responsibility would be to provide advice and equipment to the guild. Those who wished to join this rank should be peaceful and unselfish. These members would report to the Lord of Light, who was a paladin, and the High Priest of Light, who was a sorcerer. It is unclear if those choosing this rank had to be of those vocations or not.

The Messengers of the Night were those of dark alignment and would be responsible for the guilds more violent needs. Players of this rank should not become PKs as that was forbidden. Those with a justice-oriented mind and should be loyal to the guild. The Lord of the Night was of the knight vocation, and the High Priest of the Night was a druid; both led this group.

The Neutral Force rank fell somewhere in the middle and would follow the somewhat nebulous idea of "maintain[ing] the status quo". It is unclear what this rank was responsible for, but it seemed to be reserved for potential council leadership which doesn't seem to make much sense.

I am not sure how long the guild survived for, but it seemed to go through some restricting not long after forming as Tibia was going through some growing pains over the summer causing many to leave. The guild was merged with Brotherhood of Crossed Swords though no further information exists on this guild.
