The Association 4 Free Life in Tibia (AFT)

The Association 4 Free Life in Tibia (AFT) was a neutral guild devoted to the protection of its own members. They did not want to "interfere with another hero's freedom" and members could generally do what they want provided their actions didn't harm other members or was a nuisance to the rest of Tibia. In its originally form, which was sometime in Beta 4, new members would be assigned a special task that they would need to complete before becoming a valued guild member. Players who wished to join had to reach level 8 first.

Upon joining the guild you were assigned the rank of aspirant, and then after you completed your assigned task you would become a novice. From there you could become a full member and then maybe after many years of service become a wise man, a small group which led the guild. The guild was found by Peter the Rat, Fede the Tiger, and Markus, who envisioned their guild hall to be Tibia's first boat.

Their quest to get a boat, which would later be known as the Tibianic, would start as a parcel boat created in Fibula on the western side of the island. Taghor remarked that CIP was resistant to the idea of a physical ship as the design power of the software couldn't produce anything that looked like a ship. The members of AFT decided to build their own after unsuccessful lobbying, creating a ship using 100 parcels. AFT was not very skilled for fighting so the peaceful island was chosen for its mostly monster free access and for its seclusion from troublemakers. Like all parcel places made by players, disruptive players found the location and worked tirelessly to destroy the place. To slow down the rate that their parcel ship was destroyed, the AFT created a guard system to keep the place safe from harm. Troublemakers still managed to destroy the place many times which required a new 100 parcels be rebought at the pricy sum of 10gp each. Due to this expense there were long gaps without their ship.

After one such end to the ship, the decision was made to build elsewhere. They would build an even larger one in the new area chosen, just Southwest of Carlin. The ship was built with 500 parcels, which was used to add a large zoo with 15 different animals in it. Unfortunately like the previous versions, and indeed like all parcel constructs, this was destroyed multiple times before the AFT finally gave up. Taghor remarked that he made an angry post on the GM internals arguing that CIP had to do something about these vandalizers. Steve, who ran the GM program, responded by reiterating their earlier response, saying that the resources were not available to make a realistic ship that looked good. This only further infuriated Taghor who argued that they had asked for 3 years to be able to design a proper ship. Knightmare backed up Taghor, saying he could find a place for it if only a suitable design was found, so Steve agreed to allow Taghor a chance to try to design one himself.

Other map makers submitted their own designs for the ship but Taghor wanted to try for himself and begain fiddling with the map editor to create many different shipped but none of them looked like anything other than a “misshaped house”. At one-point Steve saw the creation Taghor had made and said again they should wait until they had more graphics available. Taghor didn't want to give up the dream so he thought about it some more and realized that a ship needed sails. He found a wall tapestry which would work but the system wouldn't allow a wall tapestry to be hung without a wall. You could put a wall behind it but that wouldn't look like a sail. Instead he found a fence post that made it look like the sail was hanged off a beam. This design made the building look like a ship and CIP approved the structure and would later use this workaround for ships of their own. It would not be until summer of 2001 during Beta 6 that this building would be added to game, almost 2 years after they first started to design their parcel ship.

After the boats creation they would be known for another more amazing feat, the hosting of two Tibanic Exhibitions which showcased Tibia's rarest items for others to look at. You can read more about this in the event section of the site. This event is still talked about today as a highlight of the age.
